Pakistan has decided to give diplomacy and dialogue an opportunity to resolve questions, including the presence of terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan with the acting Taliban government. The decision was made at a meeting chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar on Monday.

“Pakistan’s special representative on Afghanistan, ambassador Muhammad Sadiq, has provided a detailed briefing on his recent visit to Kabul, highlighting key commitments with Afghan authorities and discussions on bilateral cooperation,” read an official document published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Foreign Minister Dar stressed the importance of “a active dialogue with the Acting Afghan government to respond to Pakistan’s concerns and promote bilateral relations,” the statement added.

This decision occurred after the Sadiq ambassador made his recommendations on how to continue relations with Afghanistan. He provided a positive assessment of his trip to Kabul.

The relations of Pakistan and Afghanistan have remained tense for months mainly about the presence of Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in the neighboring country.

Islamabad has linked the point of terrorist attacks in the provinces of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balutchistan with terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan.
