Beijing:
The Minister of Planning, Ahsan Iqbal, met Chinese Foreign Minister Sun Weidong on Saturday to discuss the second phase of the Chinese-Pakistani Economic Corridor (CPEC), according to an official statement.
The two officials reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral links, with a particular emphasis on industrial development and business cooperation with business under phase II of the CPEC. Iqbal sent the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Prime Minister to Beijing and praised China’s support during recent regional tensions.

“The inhabitants of Pakistan are proud of eternal friendship with the leaders and the inhabitants of China,” he said, noting that the China’s development model serves as inspiration for the evolution of Pakistan to an economy focused on exports and focused on technology.
He stressed that the Uraan initiative of Pakistan, built around a framework of five ES, is fully aligning with the objectives of phase II of CPEC to guarantee economic, social and institutional stability through reforms centered on people.
Iqbal stressed that the development of a qualified and educated workforce and will deepen the B2B collaboration will be the key pillars of the next CPEC phase. Weidong reiterated the strong commitment of China to expand cooperation in several sectors and has congratulated the role of IQBAL leadership in the transformation of the CPEC of a plan actually several billion dollars.
