ISLAMABAD:

The District and Sessions Court in Islamabad on Saturday upheld the arrest warrants against Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in a case related to alleged misleading accusations against state institutions.

The court noted that the accused was absent and failed to appear despite earlier instructions, leading to further delay in the proceedings.

The hearing took place under the chairmanship of civil judge Abbas Shah. The judge was informed that CM Afridi could not be arrested and produced before the court.

The judge ordered that the arrest warrants remain in force and ordered the authorities to ensure the arrest and presentation of the accused at the next hearing. The court stressed that compliance with its orders was necessary to move the case forward.

According to the filing, CM Afridi faces allegations of making statements that allegedly misled the public and undermined the credibility of state institutions. The case was registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
