In view of the Pakistan-South Africa Test matches scheduled to take place from October 20, Islamabad Traffic Policy has issued a travel advisory, along with details of alternative traffic routes.

During matches, cricket teams will travel between Islamabad and the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, with 310 traffic police deployed on key routes to manage traffic flow and ensure minimum disruption to commuters.

To facilitate the movement of citizens, the capital’s traffic police proposed an alternative traffic route:

  • Commuters traveling from Margalla Road towards Khanna should take Faisal Avenue via Blue Area, Club Road and Lehtrar Road.
  • For those heading towards sectors G-9, G-10, G-11 and Tarnol, use Faisal Avenue via Route F-10.
  • Travelers coming from Rawalpindi Saddar to Islamabad are advised to take Srinagar Highway via Peshawar Morr.
  • Motorists using IJP Road to enter Islamabad should instead take Sabzi Mandi Road.

Islamabad Traffic Police officers will be present on the service roads to guide commuters and ensure smooth flow of traffic.

Traffic jams may occur on Srinagar Highway and Expressway during office and school hours in the morning, as well as during peak hours in the evening.

Citizens have been asked to allow extra travel time during peak hours and to remain patient. The Islamabad Traffic Police assured that they would make all possible efforts to minimize inconvenience to the public.

Traffic updates will be provided via Islamabad Police social media pages and FM Radio 92.4. For any emergency, contact Pukar-15 or the Traffic Helpline at 1915.
