Islamabad:

A local Islamabad court ordered to block 27 channels accused of “disseminating false and misleading information against state institutions,” she said in an order on Tuesday.

The judicial magistrate Abbas Shah made a written order of two pages on a petition deposited by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). The court concluded that proof of the agency was satisfactory and judged that the case deserved an action under existing laws.

The NCCIA launched an investigation into the issue on June 2 with the approval of the competent authority.

The Waseem Khan Subspector of the Cyber Crime Reporting Center of the NCCIA informed the Court on June 24 that the agency investigated several YouTube channels involved in the propagation of the content “false, defamatory and false” against state institutions and their civil servants.

He told court that the content circulated was “likely to cause fear, panic, troubles or troubles in society” and included “very intimidating, provocative and derogatory” remarks. He also allegedly alleged that the channels aimed to provoke public staff and the armed forces and to create “a bad will among the pillars of the state”.

The survey revealed that 27 channels were involved in the public dissemination of this equipment.

The agency subsequently asked for authorization to block these YouTube channels under article 37 of the law on the prevention of electronic crimes, requesting that a legal order be rendered to Google LLC, the mother company of Youtube, for their withdrawal and blockage.

After examining the request and supporting evidence, the Court concluded that it was convinced of the facts presented and elements of evidence submitted by the head of the investigation constituted “offenses punishable by offenses” under the law on the prevention of electronic crimes and criminal laws of Pakistan.

The written order also ordered the officer responsible for YouTube to block / delete the identified channels.

The channels blocked by the Court are affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI), as well as those led by journalists Moeed Pirzada, Asad Ali Toor, Ahmed Noorani, Matiullah Jan, Imran Riaz Khan, Sabir Shakir and AFTAB IQBAL.
