Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered managers to modernize the Islamabad health system, transforming it into a model for the rest of the country.
Chairing a review meeting on the Ministry of National Health Services, the Prime Minister stressed the government’s commitment to improve access to health care nationally.
He underlined the need to prioritize efforts to provide quality medical facilities to all citizens.
The meeting included a briefing on the development of the Jinnah medical complex and research center, where Prime Minister Shehbaz asked managers to accelerate construction and start the pre-qualification process to acquire medical and surgical equipment.
The process, he added, must be carried out under the supervision of expert consultants to ensure transparency.
The PM Shehbaz also ordered a third -party audit of the work supply and equipment for the Jinnah medical complex.
In addition, he called for the launch of the approval process of the Charter of the affiliated university of the complex.
The officials informed the meeting that the Jinnah medical complex was created as a company under article 42 of the law on companies, and its steering committee approved the master plan.
Recruitment for project management and implementation units has also started.
Federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Azam Nazir Tarar and Ahsan Cheema, as well as the Coordinator of the National Health Prime Minister, Dr. Malik Mukhtar Ahmed Bharath, attended the meeting alongside the high officials of the government.
The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s determination to improve health services, which makes them accessible and effective for all citizens.
