Israel says Iran’s revolutionary guard has $ 1.5 billion in stablecoins

The National Office for the Counter-Terrorist Financing of Israel (NBCTF) has published a list of 187 respondents to the cryptocurrency which, according to him, are linked to the Corps of the Iranian Islamic Revolution (IRGC), a group sanctioned and designated as terrorist by the United States, the EU, the United Kingdom and Canada.

According to the Elliptic blockchain analysis company, these addresses have collectively received $ 1.5 billion in USDT, the Stablecoin de Tether de Tether. However, the elliptical warned that he could not verify that all these funds are directly connected to the IRGC, because some portfolios may belong to exchanges or services used by several customers.

The use of the USDT exposes these portfolios to one of the most powerful compliance tools of Tether: the blacklist. Of the 187 addresses reported by Israel, 39 had already been frozen by Tether on September 13, preventing other transfers of approximately 1.5 million dollars in USD.

The Guardian of the Revolution of Iran has been linked to the activity of illicit cryptography for years. Last week, the US Ministry of Justice seized nearly $ 600,000 in USDT from an Iranian national accused of building drone navigation systems for IRGC.

In December 2024, the sanctions of the US Treasury targeted the portfolios linked to IRGC networks moving more than $ 300 million in stablecoins via an intermediary linked to the Yemen Houthis.

And in June 2025, the group of pro-Israeli pirates Gonjeshke Darande (“predatory sparrow”) stole $ 90 million in the exchange of Iranian crypto Nobitex, which elliptical and others linked to IRGC activities, including ransomware operations. The pirates “burned” the stolen funds in vanity portfolios marked with anti-irgc slogans and even disclosed the source code of Nobitex.

The hack was considered a hammer blow in Iran, which would have used the crypto to escape the sanctions.
