The only thing that is missing in Wordle status as a cultural institution has been a day dedicated to it, and now we also have it.
Welcome to Bordle Day, or May 6, to be precise. Why today? “Because Bordle uses five letters with six assumptions to find a secret word, we thought that on May 6 would be the perfect date to celebrate the game which sparked a joyful daily routine for so many people around the world,” said the editor -in -chief of the New York Times Bordle, Tracy Bennett.
Okay, that has an selfish sense, and who are we to discuss with this logic when most of us are hung on the daily games of the word game that asks us to find a word of five letters in six tests?
If you have any questions about the popularity of Bordle or why it deserves one day, look at these statistics. According to the NYT, there have been 5.3 billion game games to date. 2.8 million massive people use the same start -up word every day.
Wordle ‘is certainly an institution here, where our daily column Bordle Today provides some advice, then guides you through the way we have resolved it. I hope you do not read these articles before trying to resolve the puzzle for yourself, but you are doing.
Word is also a competition sport. In my house, my wife and I finish each evening to complete several puzzles, including losts, connections, strands and a quord (the only non -nyt game).
Wordle is invariably our first stop, and, yes, there is a competition to see who can resolve it in the least tests. So, it is not surprising that to celebrate this completely invented day, the New York Times introduced the Golf de Lot.
It’s not another play on words (thank God, I can’t take it anymore). Instead, it is a reimming of the standard lots competition in a golf game format.
As for golf, there are 18 holes … or, euz … puzzles. You can play against seven other players (or more if you, I suppose, print more Lot golf leaves).
Each game is noted in a similar way to a golf game, which means that you want the lowest score (more strokes in golf vascular accidents increase your score and that you are generally considered a bad thing).
The rating system for Wordle golf course breaks down like this:
- 6 points for a supposition on the sixth test
- 5 points for a “bogey” or a fifth attempt to guess.
- A supposition in four is “by” and is worth 4 points,
- Three is worth 3 points and considered a “Birdie”
- 2 guesss is worth 2 points and a “rare” eagle
- 1 is the miracle of a “hole in one” and is worth 1.
In theory, you can spend most of May to play Lot golf course, but it means that no one should jump per day.
It’s an silly game, but probably less difficult and frustrating than 18 holes on a real golf course.
Who knows, if you are a real word pro, it may be the kind of challenge you expected. Let’s just hope there is not another “Corer”. This is the word, according to the New York Times, which broke 5.6 million sequences.
