- The Over-Eart Sony Bluetooth headphones appear in an official database in an official database
- Perhaps a successor to the Sony WH-CH520 or WH-C720N
- It is a very early leak, so a launch may not be imminent
There is no doubt that Sony’s WH-1000XM6 over-o-erailles are an excellent pair of headphones. But at $ 449 / £ 399 / $ 699 at, they are also a fairly expensive pair of headphones. If you are looking for an audio upgrade but would prefer something a little more affordable, Sony seems to prepare exactly that.
A new pair of Sony headphones has disclosed and they seem to be ears. And that means that they are probably the successor to the Sony WH-CH520 or the WH-C720N-although we cannot exclude a brand new model that we have never seen before.
The first of them had a launch price of $ 60 / £ 60 / $ 99 at, and the latter were $ 129 / £ 99 / $ 259 in. And the two get out a little: two years, which is long on the helmets.
Sony’s new over-ear headphones: what we know so far
As is often the case with Sony’s leaks, the news occurs via the Walkman blog and its access to Sony shipping manifests.
These manifests include a new model number, YY2998, which they describe as “Bluetooth headphones with over-Head coverage, a band of 2.4 GHz, Brand: Sony … Black, Silver”. 2.4 GHz is the place where Bluetooth lives.
The previous leaks for a different set of headphones had the YY2985 model number, which would be the WF-1000XM6 headphones which should be launched later this year.
The headphones detailed in the manifests seem to be test samples, which means that it is a very early leak: large leaks tend to be when the earphones are subject to the various certification organizations, a process which tends to occur in the very final stages before the launch of the product.
This suggests that whatever these headphones, we will probably not see them before the end of this year. So, if you want a set of Sonys but you do not want to wait so long, check our guide for the best Sony headphones for all budgets.
