- AI and Zero Trust could reduce the tools needed and enable clear user management
Only 6% of IT managers believe their current desktop software setup works perfectly, and many are concerned about costs, security and complexity, according to a new study.
Not only does this highlight a captive audience that might be ready to explore new technology solutions, but IT leaders openly admit it: 87% of them are willing to change their productivity suites in favor of a more unified or secure platform.
The report from JumpCloud and Google Workspace highlights the demand for consolidated stacks, after a period of tech flooding with tools for everything.
IT leaders want to simplify their technology stacks
According to the study, high administrative tasks, complex security setups and complex pricing are among the biggest problems IT managers face today, but the report reveals a way (unsurprisingly) to quickly and efficiently consolidate a large number of software programs. Yes, it’s AI.
Currently, about two-thirds lack unified, automated device management (62%), security policy enforcement (64%), and compliance management (66%), and nearly half lack fully unified identity management (46%).
“This unified approach is more effective than purchasing and securing the use of a messy set of separate tools,” wrote Andy Wen, senior director of security product management at Google Workspace.
The joint study also examines the Microsoft 365 platform, noting that IT managers complain of high administrative costs (45%), security configuration complexity (44%), complex licensing and pricing (40%), and vendor lock-in (25%).
In addition to using the power of AI to bring together large amounts of data across consolidated platforms, JumpCloud also added that a zero trust security posture plays an important role in preventing attacks as well as creating a “clear space to manage users and devices.”
