- Multiple sources now claim that the Samsung Galaxy S26 series has been delayed
- You’ll probably wait until March to receive it, a delay of about two months.
- This is likely because Samsung changed its plans and replaced the S26 Edge with an S26 Plus.
Not too long ago, we heard reports that the Samsung Galaxy S26 series could be delayed until March, which would see it land around two months later than the January release we were expecting based on past form. At the time, only one source mentioned it, but others have now echoed the claim.
According to reputable leaker Ice Universe posted on Weibo, the Samsung Galaxy S26 series has been “confirmed to be postponed”, and the equally reputable Setsuna Digital has stated that it “may be postponed to March” (both via Phone Arena).
None of these sources give a reason for the delay, but recent reports suggest it could be the fault of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge; or rather that there would be no Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge due to low sales of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.
But rather than just shipping two phones (the base Samsung Galaxy S26 and the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra), the company is instead reportedly planning a Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus – something it likely needs more time to develop, since this rumored change of plans is apparently a recent development.
Name changes and chipset choices
That’s likely the main reason, but there are other potential issues as well, with Samsung flip-flopping on the base model name. A name change from Samsung Galaxy S26 to Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro has been considered for some time but now apparently abandoned, and there may be more uncertainty within the company over which models – if any – to feature its in-house Exynos 2600 chipset.
However, recently we learned that Samsung has achieved high efficiency with this chipset and its performance is promising so it could be widely used.
Any or all of this could potentially lead to delays in the launch of the Galaxy S26 lineup, and with multiple sources now saying it’s likely delayed, we’d say that seems likely. While it’s always worth taking all of this with a pinch of salt, we won’t know for sure that the Samsung Galaxy S26 lineup won’t arrive in its typical January release window until Samsung says otherwise, or until it doesn’t appear altogether.
