- The last two fixes for Windows 11 24h2 cause user problems
- Allegedly, the least affected equipment is the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K
- Game accidents and slowdown seem to be exclusive to the latest updates
Some Windows 11 24H2 users have experienced certain problems, including slowdown and even accidents, people quickly blame the last update of the popular operating system.
As spotted by Neowin, two of the most recent fixes of Windows 11 24H2 (KB5050094 and KB5051987) caused problems of crushing and instability. The user of Neowin Forum in the joke first observed game accidents with the last update interrupting the settlers: new allies to Ubisoft Connect, but others have experienced very worse problems since.
Writing on Borncity, a Windows 11 24H2 user performing an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor on an ASROCK Z890 Pro RS Motherboard could not operate the newly constructed system with a beta bios. The launch failure was assigned to the Intel microcode integrated in the BIOS, despite the installation of the latest version of Windows 11.
Performance problems did not stop once the new equipment was operational either. With Windows 11 24H2, it is said that a “new massive performance problem” has an impact on the system as soon as a program has been minimized or not the main “concentration”. It is said that requests are “massively strangled”, so much so that the processor’s clock rate has even been reduced. The screenshots show the differences in use.
We can say that the most disturbing thing of the impact of the two most recent fixes of Windows 11 is the fact that this user was able to reproduce problems with different applications. These include 7zip and prime95, proving that it does not seem to be linked to a specific program with incompatibility or stability problems with KB5050094 or KB5051987.
The user claims that the performance of the 7ZIP reference was actually divided by half when the program minimization and that the distribution of the workload on all the available nuclei (for which the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K has 24 in total) has not relieved the problem. No solid solution has yet been implemented, apart from a bypass solution to force the maximum energy saving plan to push the “complete processor performance” in the background processes, which is far from ideal for long -term use.
Interestingly, it is said that the same problems did not occur with the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X processor as with the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, or with the old Intel Core i9-12900K. For this reason, it is possible that most of the serious problems can be specific to the last LGA 1851 platform in Intel, but this does not seem to be as widespread as the collisions and incompatibilities of the software seen so far.
To recover the compatibility of your processor with Windows 11 24h2, you can read the list of processors supported by Microsoft, which describes AMD, Intel and Qualcomm CPU which are confirmed to run without problem. If you feel a slowdown or an accident, it may be time to return to a previous version of the operating system until things are starting to stabilize.
The problems with Windows 11 continue
Recently, it seems that there was no problem of problems with Windows 11, the 24H2 version of the operating system with some exceptional problems. In addition to the newly reported crash and slowdown, this variant of the operating system included more advertising in the settings menu, high use of the task manager and coherent reminders to save things.
Another strange Windows 11 24:2 Windows bug even had half of the interface displayed in one language, the second half mixed in another. This problem was apparently linked to a defective installation where two language options were superimposed, which was previously unknown until last month.
Of course, the artificial slowdown and software accidents are more serious than errors in advertising, strangulation and language, but it culminates in a user experience which has been far from ideal since the latest version of October 1, 2024. The two most recent problematic fixes are optional, at least, so if you have problems with them, we recommend making a look at a previous version (more stable) or reinstall a freshly reinstalled version 11.
