IT teams face outages due to missing vital alerts

  • More UK IT teams ignore alerts than the global average
  • Tool proliferation is the biggest problem, false alerts are also a problem
  • IT teams need to strengthen observability with more context and remediation

Three in four UK IT teams experienced outages in 2025 due to missed critical alerts, highlighting the risks of not only poor configurations that led to these outages, but also what is known as alert fatigue.

A new report from Splunk reveals that poorly configured alerts mean more than half (54%) of respondents agree that false alerts hurt morale. As a result, UK IT teams are also more likely to ignore alerts (15% compared to 13% globally).
