- It has been confirmed that the Mac Intel will not be supported with MacOS 27
- Only four Mac models with Intel processors are supported by MacOS Tahoe, but it will be the final upgrade of these machines
- These devices will receive at least security updates for an additional three years
If you have a Mac with an Intel processor, we now know that MacOS Tahoe 26 is the end of the line of your device (assuming that it supports MacOS 26 first, and you can check it here).
Techradar may confirm that Intel compatibility information has been provided in WWDC State of the Union Keynote platforms, and MacOS Tahoe will be the latest version of Apple’s office operating system to support any Mac with an Intel processor.
Another way of saying is that when the macOS 27 will arrive next year, it will only take care of the Macs with Apple fleas inside.
However, although the Mac Intels who can execute MacOS Tahoe 26 will be blocked with this operating system, these machines will continue to obtain security updates for an additional three years.
Analysis: which rushed through the feeling of door
I had an idea that it could happen, but I was not entirely convinced that Apple goes forward and would do it – or, perhaps more precisely, excluded the 2020 macbooks with MacOS Tahoe 26. It seems that this material is leaving the exit door a little hastily.
In fact, only a small number of Macs with Intel processors are good to go with MacOS Tahoe: the 16 -inch MacBook Pro from 2019, MacBook Pro 13 inch from 2020 – but only the high -end model with four ports (not the entry -level laptop with two ports) – with the Mac Pro from 2019, and 27 -inch iMacs of 2020.
These Macs can be good at the moment, but they will not have MacOS 27, which will probably be announced and published next year, although they have at least a guarantee of three years of security updates in the future, to protect them from the vulnerabilities that appear in the operating system that could be exploited.

Thus, these devices will be covered for updates until the end of 2029 (assuming that the three years start from the release of MacOS 27), which is nine or 10 years of updates in total. And to be fair, it corresponds to the coverage that Microsoft provided with Window 10, which had a decade of support (which ends in October, of course).
Of course, it was not only security updates, but also new features, although the additions to Windows 10 have been rare lately – but they have continued to come.
Microsoft faces its own controversy with Windows 11 upgrades, and the more steep hardware requirements that Windows 10 users are faced.
