It’s been three and a half years since Peacemaker took the assault world.
The suicide team The Spin-Off series, which saw John Cena resume his role as Jingoistic Anti-Hero of this film in 2021 in the character’s eponymous television show, was a great success. Armed with the usual attackers of a James Gunn project, the arrival of the final of season 1 in February 2022 broke the time record for the greatest number of viewers of a day of an original HBO Max episode. Not bad for a show featuring a Metahuman from Tier C-List of DC Comics.
But PeacemakerThe first season had a round of its round which oversee its successful weeks before the launch of its last episode: a title sequence inspired by the dance number. The intro of 80 seconds, which saw its complete distribution make a funny routine routine choreographed highly polished on the Wig Wam “Do You Wanna Taste track?”, Was surprising because it was delicious. Four billion views on Tiktok later, and the writer / director James Gunn, Cena and the company had an unexpected viral sensation in their hands.
With a second season – a set in the DC universe restarted (DCU) supervised by Gunn and the co -PDG of the studios of DC Peter Safran, rather than the extensive universe of DC now disappeared (DCEU) – Greenlit shortly after the final of its ancestor, a question dominated the spirit of the fans. Well, the one who has nothing to do with the events of Peacemaker Season 1 would be considered canon in season 2 and the wider DCU, anyway: would the release of the second program have its own infused intro of similar dance?
The short answer is: Yes. And, with the first episode of Peacemaker Season 2, entitled “Links that grind” now, viewers can finally look at it in all its glory.
What many fans will not achieve and / or do not underestimate, however, the time, efforts and energy that have been devoted to the more complex and more ambitious opening of this season. And, after three years exhausting to assemble this sequence, Gunn and the whole program are finally ready to reveal everything.
‘Julian, it’s a hungry world …’
The intro of last season had a lot to the strange heel of Gunn – no, superpower – to select the right path for a scene or a sequence given in projects that he writes, directs and / or produces. A clay of avowed music, almost each of Gunn’s works, like the Galaxy goalkeepers The cinematographic trilogy he wrote and directed for Marvel, is full of catchy but underestimated songs which have become part of the cultural zeitgeist after their use in said productions.
The pressure to select the perfect song to open the dance of season 2, then, was certainly in progress. And, while Gunn tells me the song of choice of this season – “ Oh Lord ” of the Glam -Rock Foxy Shazam outfit – was finally installed because his words are linked to the themes of season 2, it was not the only option he was Umm and Arr -ED.
“I don’t know if other songs got closer [to being chosen]”Gunn admits.”[But] There were a few others that I considered. There was another Foxy Shazam track and I also thought of using “Do you want to taste?” Again. But, at the end of the day, I chose “ Oh Lord ” because it was the best fit for the tone of this season, a bit like “Do you want to taste?” It was the right choice for season 1. “
“You think that the same song again and again for 10 consecutive hours was going to age, but that never did it for me,” reveals Steve Agee, who plays John Economos, laughing. “I really like the song, and some of the guys from Foxy Shazam came while we were turning the real thing, so it was very fun.”

With its locked title track, the work quickly started on the real dance that the casting will have to play during the day (or, as you will learn later, days).
Lots of work has entered the opening dance sequence of this year, although you cannot say it while looking at Frank Grillo. #Peacemaker season 2 tomorrow! pic.twitter.com/gtdp83tib7August 20, 2025
“Charissa worked in advance before obtaining James’ approval,” said Agee. “Then, she meets us head-on, or in groups of two or three, because there are dance sections. So we were going with her to repeat it, she would record it, then send you the file so that you can practice at home.”
“We have had a lot of individual and group rehearsals,” said Frank Grillo, who resumes his role as Rick Flag Sr of Gunn Superman movie and Creature commandos Season 1, adds. “We have been given a lot of homework to do, and I’m happy to have been able to work at home because the idea of being on stage with so many people and being synchronized was something with which I did not think I would be comfortable.”
Pacifier 2Opening credits are certainly more complex than those of its predecessor. Indeed, more people are involved this time and, with the dance sequence of the first season so well received, there is an inevitable demand to make it greater, more daring and better than what preceded.
For Jennifer Holland, the gymnast who has become an actor who returns to play Emilia Harcourt, the routine of season 2 allowed her to walk particularly. Indeed, with this season examining further hacourt and the will of the titular character, they will not do it dynamic, Barton considered that it was crucial to look at this aspect of history with a Dirty dance-The inspired.
“There is a song where I can go to wires and make this little turn in the air, which was like a little Sun circus Moment, “Holland tells me”, but this elevator was the most difficult thing I had to do. I could not repeat so much with John because he is so busy – you never know if you can train with him from one day to the next! But, his double blow, Spencer Thomas, was so incredible. He made sure that I was prepared as well, when I got on the set with John, I knew exactly what was expected of me. “”
Dancing like everyone else look
This preparation work – “We have repeated for weeks”, admits it by Rodríguez, who plays Sasha Bordeaux – like the casting cast was critical when it came to shooting the real thing.
Unlike the shooting of a day of last season, the casting and the crew received two full days to obtain the new title sequence in the box. However, even with the additional time offered to them, all the people involved faced a kind of challenge.
“We have many more bad dancers this season,” said Gunn, laughing. “Robert Patrick [who plays Auggie Smith] was the only one we had the last time, so shout at Frank, Tim Meadows [who plays Langston Fleury]And Michael Rooker [who portrays Red St. Wild] To intensify and do their best! “”
“I had to dance in the costume of Captain Triumph”, reveals David Denman, who plays Keith Smith. “It was a big challenge, but fortunately, I didn’t have much to do a lot, especially with the helmet.”
“Dancing in a mask is more delicate than you think,” adds Freddie Stroma, who resumes his role as Adrian Chase / Vigilante. “You can’t really see, so most of the time, you fear that you are not hitting someone or, if you are about to go on stage where it is really dark, you try to understand where the edge is not to fall.
The saying says that “practice makes it perfect”, however, and it is certainly useful here. Well, unless you are whirlwind, Gunn says a smile. “Look at it enough and you will see what I mean,” he teases.
Aside from the Roboker problems with staying in synchronization with his colleagues actors, there is no doubt that the title sequence of season 2 is as wonderfully entertaining as that of last season – indeed, I said as much in my Peacemaker Review of season 2. Although his cast had to take serious looks on their faces as part of the routine, it is obvious that they all had fun too.
“It was my last two days on the set,” said Stroma. “I couldn’t do it last season either, so I had nothing to compare it. But it was really fun to drop the accent that I use in the show, to relax and have a good time to dance.”
“The whole shoot was incredible,” said Rodríguez. “Have the full cast and James there, and all these great personalities who like to laugh, film on a large sound scene and explode music – I have never experienced anything like it.”
“It’s a complete production,” adds Danielle Brooks, who plays Leota Adebayo. “James takes all this very seriously, but we broke out. I can’t wait to see all our fans learn it.”
