- James Gunn teased why the Lobo de Jason Momoa is vital for SupergirlThe intrigue
- His inclusion helped the creative team of the DC film to crack the story they want to tell
- Gunn has also confirmed which actor will play the main villain of the film
James Gunn confirmed who will play the villain Supergirl – and opened the importance of Jason Momoa Lobo in the next DC Universe film (DCU).
In an interview with a large interview on episode 15 of the official Podcast of DC Studios, Gunn revealed that the Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts will represent Krem.
For uninitiated: Krem is the big bad in ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’, a series of graphic novels in eight parts that the second DCU film, which published on June 26, 2026, is strongly inspired. In fact, the film wore the title of its comic book namesake until very recently, with Gunn admitting Supergirl: woman of tomorrow was now known by its much simpler and cleaner title Supergirl.
But let’s go back to Krem. Last October, Deadline said that Schoenaerts had been interpreted as the terrifying antagonist of the film, but it is only now that Gunn has admitted The regime And Amsterdam Star is part of his cast. For more details on all the others, you will see in the first feature film by Kara Zor-El in more than 40 years (the first, 1984 Supergirlis available to broadcast on max, fyi), consult my dedicated Supergirl guide.
This is not the only interesting information that Gunn discussed. Indeed, the co-chief of DC Studios also provided more details on the reasons why Milly Alcock was interpreted as Supergirl, how director Craig Gillespie was disputed positively to include certain scenes in the superhero film, and the initial text that Jason Momoa sent to Gunn to persuade him to let Momoa play Lobo.
It is a continuation of this final conversation which will sting the interest of the faithful of DC. Indeed, as a co-host / expert in the comic strip Coy Jandreau mentioned during the last episode of the Podcast, the original project for Supergirl: woman of tomorrowThe literary series in eight games has been planned to present the hunter of immortal bonuses on a motorcycle. Tom King, who wrote the graphic novel, confirmed that it was in an interview with comicbook.com in February 2023.
Since Lobo had to appear in the comic strip series of King and Bilquis Evely before it was ultimately cut off from history, the more the fact that Momoa will play the last Czarnian surviving in SupergirlLandreau asked if the next film in the DCU One chapter would incorporate “some of the [comics’] Original draft ideas “regarding the way the lobo fits into history Supergirl I will say it.
“”Tomorrow’s wifeIn comics, is a bunch of little stories, “said Gunn,” and we had to create a story through, a story in three acts and more traditional. So Lobo helps us do this.
“It is not a fusion of him and Krem,” added Gunn about rumors that Lobo and Krem are somehow combined in a single character. “He [Lobo] is a completely separate character. I love Lobo. I always thought that he was a great character to adapt and, perhaps, in a way, the greatest comic strip who has never been in a film. So I think it was a cool thing to do [include him in Supergirl]Yeah.”
Are you happy that Lobo is Supergirl? And what do you do with Schoenaerts by playing his main bad guy? Let me know in the comments.
