In the midst of his work on the second season of Superman and Peacemaker, James Gunn said he is currently “pre-writing” his next DC Studios project.
Although he did not reveal details about the project, he said on Threads: “Most of my time is spent on post-production on Superman and Peacemaker, but I also spend a lot of time pre- writing my next DC Studios project and watching dailies and coming up with ideas for other projects is a lot less overwhelming than when I was directing.
At the same time, James is also producing Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Creature Commandos, meanwhile, is considered the new DC’s first project by co-director James, who wrote and produced it.
Earlier, the filmmaker revealed the reason for the delay in the release of The Batman sequel.
“The only reason for the delay is that there is no complete script (those of you who follow me here probably already know that),” he shared on social media.
“Matt is committed to making the best film possible, and no one can guess precisely how long it will take to write a script,” the director continued.
“Once the script is completed, there are about two years left for pre-production, filming and post-production of major films.”
“To be honest, a gap of 5 years or more is pretty common in sequels. 7 years between Alien and Aliens. 14 years between The Incredibles. 7 years between the first two Terminators. 13 years between Avatars. 36 years between Top Guns. And, of course, 6 years between Guardians Vol 2 and Vol 3,” James concluded.
