Jannik Sinner withdraws from the Cincinnati Open final due to a disease against Alcaraz

The world of tennis was excited to watch Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz leave there after the first beat the second in the Wimbledon final.

But those who showed themselves in the final of the Cincinnati Open on Monday saw only five games played between the Juggernaux of two men for men, while Sinner withdrew from the match with an apparent disease.

Thus, Alcaraz returned home with the trophy.

“I’m great, super sorry to disappoint you,” said Sinner to the crowd, while he was on the ground for the trophy ceremony. “By here yesterday, I didn’t feel well. I thought I would improve myself during the night, but it became worse.

“I tried to go out, I tried to make it at least a little game. But I couldn’t manage more.”

The sinner never disclosed what he was dealing with, but he never looked like during the match. Alcaraz took full advantage with an advance of 5-0 in the first set.

After the fifth game, Sinner called for a coach to go out. It was not long until Sinner said to the Urmpire chair that he needed to retire, which was announced throughout the stadium.

Alcaraz, however, was as respectful as possible in this budding rivalry between the best players in the game. He quickly ran towards Sinner console, and when he signed a camera goal on the field, he wrote: “Sorry Jannik”.

The question now becomes if the sinner will be good enough for the United States open, with the first round from next week in Queens, New York.

Sinner is the defending champion of the United States, and after winning Wimbledon and the Australian Open, many discount to repeat at the Arthur Ashe stadium in August.

Alcaraz, however, has a US Open title to his credit after winning everything in 2022, marking his first Grand Slam title and being appointed the youngest number one player in the world in ATP history.

He also defeated the sinner in an exciting final of the French Open in 2025 which underwent a break in equality of five sets.
