Japanese hi-fi major Audio-Technica has just launched a pair of hardcore audiophile headphones with a new driver and ultra-precise audio design

  • Audio-Technica ATH-ADX7000 features new 58mm HXDT drivers
  • Aluminum magnesium alloy honeycomb construction
  • Available from October 31, $3,499 (around £2,600 / AU$5,400)

Audio-Technica has unveiled its most advanced open-back headphone ever, the ATH-ADX7000. According to the company, they offer “a remarkably natural, spacious and comfortable premium listening experience.”

The new headphones feature the new HXDT driver design developed by the company, which allows Audio-Technica to manufacture larger drivers – 58mm in diameter – with precise concentricity for what the company describes as exceptionally clear and detailed music reproduction.

This speaker is positioned in its enclosure with “extreme precision” via Audio-Technica’s Core Mount technology, which places the speaker’s voice coil in the middle of the enclosure to provide very precise positioning, apparently.
