A private airline’s flight from Lahore to Jeddah made an unscheduled landing at Karachi airport on Monday evening due to fuel shortage, according to airport officials.
Flight PA 470, carrying more than 150 passengers, was en route to Saudi Arabia when it was suddenly diverted to Karachi to resolve the problem. The aircraft, an Airbus A320, landed safely and refueling operations were quickly launched.
Passengers were asked to remain on board during the refueling process. Sources say the decision to divert the flight was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of passengers.
After refueling, the aircraft resumed its journey to Jeddah without further incident. Aviation authorities confirmed that all standard protocols were followed during the emergency landing.
Earlier in December, an Indian airline flight en route from New Delhi to Jeddah made an emergency landing at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport after a passenger fell ill, the Airports Authority said of Pakistan (PAA).
The IndiGo flight, identified as flight number 6E63 and operating an Airbus A321-271NX, landed at 10:54 p.m. under “medical emergency” conditions, according to a PAA statement.
The statement said the sick passenger was “immediately given medication,” after which his condition improved.
