Jemima Goldsmith, the former wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, accused the Pakistani government of preventing her children from talking to their father and threatening to stop them if they try to visit him, which mentions him “a personal vendetta”.
Imran, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI), has been in solitary isolation since August 2023, after being imprisoned on multiple accusations ranging from corruption to terrorism.
“My children are not allowed to speak on the phone to their father Imran Khan. He has been in a lonely isolation in prison for almost 2 years,” Goldsmith published on X (formerly Twitter).

“The government of Pakistan has now said that if they were going to try to see it, they will also be arrested and put behind bars. This does not happen in a democracy or a functional state. It is not politics. It is a personal vendetta,” she added.
Goldsmith’s statement took place after the adviser to the Prime Minister of Remarks on Rana Sanaullah political affairs warned that Khan’s sons would be arrested if they joined a PTI demonstration scheduled in Pakistan.
Earlier, Imran’s sister Aleema Khan had that the former son of the Prime Minister Suleman and Kasim Khan would join the protest movement initiated by him.
Aleema made these comments after a visit to Adiala prison, during which she and her sisters Uzma and Noreen Khan, as well as party lawyers, had to meet Imran. However, Aleema was denied authorization to meet her brother.

Addressing the media, Aleema said that Imran directs the demonstration behind bars. “Imran Khan said he would lead the protest movement. He is free in prison, but we are prisoners despite being outside,” she said.
She added that her sons, Suleman and Kasim, would join the movement to support their father after visiting the United States.
Earlier, in May, Suleman and Kasim had publicly responded to their father’s imprisonment and summoned international pressure on Pakistan to guarantee his release.
This was the first case where the brothers talked about the situation of their father, although he was authorized to contact with him every week since November 2023. According to the sons of Imran, these calls were inconsistent and difficult to organize.
In an interview with the influencer of X (formerly Twitter), Mario Nawfal, the brothers explained why they had decided to break their silence.
“We have traveled the legal routes. We have traveled each path which, in our view, would potentially do it.
“What we want is an international pressure on Pakistan at the moment because he currently lives in inhuman conditions. They do not give him fundamental human rights … They are not close enough. And what we want is global pressure,” he added.
