Jennifer Lopez remains focused on her new film, Kiss of the Spider Womanas she avoids questions about her recent divorce from Ben Affleck.
During an interview on the Today Show host Craig Melvin tried to bring up the topic, but Lopez wouldn’t let him take the spotlight.
Jlo thanked her ex-husband, who she split from in 2024 just two years after their dream nuptials, for helping make the film happen.
“In the middle of filming this beautiful, elaborate musical, your divorce was also finalized with Ben,” Melvin said but was interrupted by Lopez saying, “There you go! Look at this guy!”
However, clarifying his comments, the host shared the reason for his question, “but I read that your ex is an executive producer on the film.”
“If it wasn’t for Ben, the movie wouldn’t have been made,” Lopez said after taking a moment, “and I will always give him that credit.”
“And yes, things happen, you have to keep going,” she added.
Lopez also shared that working on the film helped her get through a difficult time in her life, as the film’s story explains how films can help people escape difficult times.
“It’s funny, the movie is about escape. It’s how movies and art save us in the hardest times of our lives,” she shared.
“Doing this project was such a dream come true for me that it really took me through a time that was also difficult in my personal life.”
“After [filming] I took some time off and now we’re back. I’m really excited for everyone to see this movie. It’s a beautiful film about love.
Melvin said, “And it looks like it might have helped save you,” prompting Lopez to respond, “It did!”
