Jamaat-E-Islami (JI) announced a strike on national shutter on April 22 to express their solidarity with the people of Gaza in the middle of the current offensive in Israel, Express News reported.
The announcement was made by the JI leader, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, while he was addressed to a large gathering during the “Palestine march” held on Sunday in Karachi.
“We will observe a complete closure across the country on April 22 in solidarity with Gaza. The Palestinian management has approved this action,” said Rehman. “We will also coordinate with other Islamic organizations through the Muslim world for a collective response on the same day,” he added.
He urged the public to continue the campaign to boycott international products and support the Palestinian cause thanks to sustained action.
Describing the next party’s stages, Rehman said that a special children’s walk will take place, followed by a Gaza march in Multan on April 18 and another in Islamabad on April 20. “The Islamabad event will be the largest public gathering in the history of the country,” he said.
He also said that letters are sent to the head of Islamic states and human rights organizations, calling for support and decisive measures against American policies supporting Israel. “Karachi will direct this movement against the slaves of America. We will succeed in this struggle,” he added.
