JI professor Khurshid died in the United Kingdom

Professor Khurshid Ahmad, former deputy chief of Jamaat-E-Islami (JI) and renowned Islamic economist, died in Leicester, in the United Kingdom, at the age of 93, confirmed the party spokesman on Sunday.

Eminent academic and former senator, Ahmad was a close partner of the founder of Ji, Syed Abul A’la Maudi. Over the decades, he is the author of several books and was widely respected for his contributions to the Islamic economy and socio-political thought.

“Professor Khurshid Ahmad was one of the pioneering thinkers of the Islamic economy and an institution itself,” the party said in a statement.
