Sol Ruca will have the opportunity of a lifetime this weekend when she faces a WWE trailblazer in Bayley in Saturday Night’s Main Event.

The match coincides with John Cena’s final match in his WWE in-ring career. Cena will face Gunther, who earned the right to face the 17-time WWE Champion by winning the Last Time Is Now tournament.

Ruca, who primarily performs on the NXT brand, told PK Press Club Digital in a recent interview that she is more excited than ever for the opportunity to face someone like Bayley.

“I’m so excited, especially being so new to the industry and going against someone like Bayley who has been doing this a lot longer than me,” she said. “I’m just really excited to learn. I’m really excited to be in this type of environment. I’m really excited to put it all out there and have fun to be honest.”

Bayley was among the professional wrestlers who joined the main roster as part of the Women’s Revolution. She was a fan favorite almost immediately before turning heel and eventually aligning with the Damage CTRL faction. Now she’s in Lyra Valkyria’s corner as the two attempt to make an impact in the tag team division.

She is a four-time WWE Women’s Champion and a two-time Women’s Tag Team Champion.

Ruca praised Bayley for being someone who lent her expertise to young professional wrestlers like her.

“She’s definitely visited the (WWE Performance Center) a few times,” she told PK Press Club Digital. “I think when I was really, really new to this, she joined a class with us and we got to wrestle with her and I’ve seen her in the locker room a few times, like on Raw and SmackDown recently. She’s really nice and she’s really open to letting us learn and just being a good role model.”

Ruca’s appearance on Saturday night’s Main Event card will forever go down in history. She will be one of the rare NXT stars who will have the opportunity to truly showcase their talent.

“I’m honored and I’m really proud of myself over the past year and putting myself out there, if only to be in this world of professional wrestling,” she told PK Press Club Digital. “I’m a pretty reserved and shy person, so I feel like I’ve pushed myself a lot in the last year and I’m really proud of myself for being in this position and really honored to be a part of it.

“Yeah, I’m going to be a part of history and I feel like last year had this thread of, you know, being a two-time champion and a speed champ and North American champion and then going for the titles with my partner and now being on John Cena’s last show and also him picking me to be a part of Deadline. It’s been a really cool year for me.”
