Jordan Spieth says you are not supposed to talk about mud balls to the masters

Jordan Spieth did not only let him fly on the golf course in Augusta National this weekend, but also on the podium.

Spieth, 31, said that he had faced mud balls during his second and third laps, and said that the masters organizers do not like mud balls to be discussed publicly.

“My iron game killed me the last two days and, to be brutally honest with you, it was mainly mud balls,” said Spieth, via the New York Post after its round on Saturday.

“It’s so frustrating because you can’t talk about it here. You are not supposed to talk about it.”

“Mud balls can considerably affect this tournament, especially when you get them a lot on 11 and 13. They are only daggers on these two holes.”

Spieth had various results in the 11th and 13th holes. Spieth a Birda the 11th hole in the first round, then pulled by the first part of Amen Corner during the next three laps.

On the 13th hole, Spieth has bogey the hole in the first and second round, but observed the hole in the third and fourth rounds.

Augusta National is already enough to play with a good lie. Add the wrinkle of a mud ball and the shots on the famous course have another degree of additional difficulty.

“There is less (mud balls) than normal, but I still had them today on these holes. I had them (Friday) on these holes,” said Spieth. “This is something to pay attention to leader groups, because you just have to play so far from trouble or go to bed when you go normally, just random stuff, because it will affect it considerably. And if you are on the wrong side of the hole, you are either in the water or you can hardly make a peer according to the hole.”

“Listen, it is mowed in the grain. The ball hollows out each time. Often, you have it on 75% of your records.”

PK Press Club Digital contacted Augusta National to comment, but did not receive an immediate response.

The 2015 Masters champion made his 12th career start at this year’s masters and ended equally for 14th place when he was 3 under the tournament.

Spieth barely cut the cut on Friday because he had 2 over-Cames after two laps and just under the cup line, but he returned it by going 5 under the weekend.

Rory McILroy won the Masters and finished the Grand Colem after defeating Justin Rose in the playoffs.
