The Maine Coast Fisherman’s Association congratulated Jordon Hudson for his plea during the Miss Maine USA competition at the beginning of the month.
Support to Maine fishermen seemed to be close to Hudson’s heart. She defended their cause, not only in the competition, but also thanked Senator Susan Collins, R-Maine, and the Trump administration for her renegotiation of funding for subsidies at the Maine.

“The advocacy for the Maine commercial fisherman takes many forms, and sometimes he crosses a scene of heels bearing a bikini,” wrote Maine Coast Fishermen’s association on his Instagram stories on Monday. “Jordon Hudson helps highlight the Maine fishermen’s communities in a way that we have never imagined, from the scene to the seafront.
“We are grateful for voices like Jordon who remind us that advocacy does not always have the same appearance, but that still counts. Together, we persevere.”
Hudson was questioned during the Miss Maine USA competition for a moment of life to which she would like to come back. She said that she wanted to be able to be transported to her family’s fishing boat.

“I often think about it because there is a massive exodus for fishermen who occur in the rural areas of Maine, and I do not want to see more fishermen leave this place,” she said, via Mass Live. “As the next Miss Maine USA, I would be a point to go to the communities … to go to the government and defend these people so that they do not have to consider these memories as a past moment.”
Hudson’s parents had a fishing business, Frenchman’s Bay Fisheries, in Maine. However, after the area they used to fish, Taunton Bay, was closed to state fishing in 2000, their business finally went bankrupt years later.
His family’s ship would have suffered damage and could not afford repairs. The family tried to put pressure on the state and local legislatures to facilitate the regulations that hampered the fishing industry and finally the closure of their business.
