Maine has been a battlefield for the current national conflict between blue state officials and the federal government on the issue of Trans athletes in female sports and girls since February.

Governor Janet Mills and education officials took a difficult position to allow trans inclusion in the midst of immense federal pressure from the administration of President Donald Trump.

The Ministry of Justice has filed a complaint against the state on the issue.

Hudson is in competition to represent Maine fishermen’s families after his family’s fishing business went bankrupt when she was a child.

“As an inappropriate fishermen’s daughter, I want to use my voice to protect the ephemeral tradition and the heritage of Maine fishermen’s families, to prevent others from passing the same fate as what mine had to cross,” Hudson wrote on Instagram.

Saturday afternoon, the Maine online voting page crashed, so the updated results are unknown.

The most recent leader in online vote before the accident was the student at the University of Southern Maine Lexi Bjork with more than 1,400 votes.
