Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) calmed the mood in court on Wednesday with a witty remark, saying: “If judges cannot vote, then let’s just close the courts!”
The exchange occurred when an attorney asked the court not to set the next hearing of a case for Oct. 16, citing the SCBA elections scheduled for that day.
Smiling, Justice Kayani replied: “If this is about bar elections, then tell them to close the courts,” adding humorously: “You don’t vote for judges anyway – maybe you should start doing that too.”
This comment made those in the courtroom laugh.
