JUI-F refutes reports on the decision on PTI Alliance

The Jamiat Ulema-E-Islam (JUI-F) denied media relationships suggesting that it officially excluded an alliance with Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI), calling for such unaccvious claims.

In a statement published on Sunday, a spokesperson for Jui-F said that no official announcement had yet been made concerning the decisions made at the Assembly of the General Central Council of the Party.

The spokesman stressed that “the reports circulating in the media do not reflect any official declaration of the party”.

Clarification comes in response to generalized local media coverage claiming that JUI-F has decided not to ally with PTI or to join a coalition formed at its request.

These reports also suggested that the party had decided to maintain an independent opposition role in Parliament and to assess parliamentary issues on a case -by -case basis.

The party confirmed that key decisions had been made at the meeting, but said they would be officially disclosed in due course.

In January, a delegation from Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) met the head of Jamiat Ulema-Elam-Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence, inviting the party to join an opposition alliance proposal against the government.

Later in March, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the party would make a decision concerning a potential alliance with PTI after Eidul Fitr.
