Julia Roberts marked a major family milestone this week with a heartfelt tribute to her twins, Hazel and Phinnaeus, who just celebrated their 21st birthday.
The Oscar-winning star took to Instagram on Nov. 28 to share a touching message for her children, writing, “These game changers, the life changers, [heart] expanders used to be 1 and are now 21! It was fast. Happy birthday my dear ones.
The post included a throwback photo of the twins as babies sitting side by side in matching high chairs, smiling and snacking, an image that reminded fans how quickly time really flies.
Julia, 58, opened up about how life is different now that she and husband Danny Moder are officially empty nesters.
Their twins, along with their youngest son Henry, 18, have all moved away, significantly changing the dynamic of the household. But instead of sadness, the actress embraced change.
“Honestly, it’s a lot of fun,” she recently told Stephen Colbert, calling the chapter in her life “delicious,” even if it comes with some emotional moments.
She also talked about how she just loves spending time with her kids and that the visits don’t stop now that they’re grown up.
Julia has always spoken with pride about her children, adding, “I know everyone thinks their kids are great. Well, my kids are great.”
And even though they no longer live under her roof, she has not stopped being the active mother she has always been.
She still asks the classic check-in questions about whether they’re getting enough sleep, staying healthy, and texting when they get home safely.
“I have immense appreciation for my two older children because they still allow me to be the same mother to them,” she previously explained, sharing that there was a mutual understanding and no staring at the sky involved.
As Hazel and Phinnaeus hit this major milestone of adulthood, Julia’s birthday tribute was the perfect reminder of how much she loves being a mom and how that bond hasn’t changed, even with her children alone in the world.
