London: The son of the chief minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Junaid Safdar, is expected to engage in Lahore at the granddaughter of one of the Germins cousins of the president of the PML-N Nawaz Sharif.
Three family sources told PK Press Club News This marriage of Junaid was finalized with the daughter of Usman Javed, 48, who is the son of Javed Shafi – a Germain cousin by Nawaz Sharif.
Sources have said that families – notably Nawaz, Maryam and Javed Shafi – met on Wednesday at the residence of the former in Model Town, where the formalities were finalized.
“Rishta has been settled and the commitment will soon be followed. Families will decide to each other the dates of the Nikah and the commitment ceremony,” said a source.
It will be the second marriage of Junaid Safdar. He was previously married to Ayesha Saif, daughter of the Qatar businessman, Saifur Rehman Khan. The two were married in London in 2021 in Lanesborough in Knightsbridge while Nawaz Sharif was in exile. The couple divorced amicably in October 2023.
Junaid returned to Pakistan in London during the same month to help his mother with his political responsibilities.
A graduate of Cambridge, Junaid holds two baccalaureate and two master’s degrees for prestigious British universities. He finished a master’s degree in international relations of the London School of Economics (LSE) in 2020, and another in global and ethical governance of the University College London (UCL).
Earlier, he obtained a first class diploma in politics from Durham University, and then graduated from Cambridge University in 2022.
Junaid is also a Polo enthusiast and has won several competitions representing British universities.
