Kabul welcomes Pakistan, China FMS for dialogue

Foreign ministers in Afghanistan, China and Pakistan will meet in Kabul on Wednesday as part of a trilateral mechanism aimed at discussing questions related to the strengthening of political, economic and regional cooperation between the three countries.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is currently visiting New Delhi, will go to Kabul for the first official trilateral meeting in two years.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar will represent Pakistan at the meeting which will be organized by the Afghan Minister of Affairs Amir Khan Muttaqi.

It will be the first visit to the Chinese Foreign Minister in Afghanistan since the Taliban found power four years ago while the third by DAR in the Afghan capital since April.

During an informal trilateral meeting, held in Beijing in May, Pakistan and Afghanistan agreed to modernize their diplomatic relationship at ambassadors. The agreement was negotiated by China, who wanted to request a rapprochement between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
