For Kai Trump, a round of golf with her grandfather is just another day in the life of her, an 18-year-old high school student. However, there is one obvious problem: his grandfather is the President of the United States.
“I just don’t consider him to be president. I consider him to be my grandfather. We’re going to go play golf,” Kai said in a recent interview with PK Press Club Digital. “We play golf all the time. It’s nothing new.”
Their most recent round was a little different, as the two played a round of best ball at Trump National Golf Club, in Washington, D.C., just outside the nation’s capital. And it was visible to the whole world.

The course was obviously closed as the Trumps wound their way through what they both considered the “perfect US Open course,” but Kai filmed the round as part of his YouTube channel, with the video titled “Playing Golf with President Donald Trump (My Grandfather).”
When Kai approached his grandfather with this idea, it was a resounding yes from the president.
“There were definitely a lot of moving parts, but he was 100 percent,” Kai said. “He’s great when it comes to stuff like that. He loved the idea and it all worked out. For me, I’m playing a game with my grandpa. I had a great time with him and he made it easy. It was really fun filming with him.”
“Whenever I have time,” she added, “he will always make time to play golf with me. If I call him tomorrow and ask him to play golf next Saturday, he will make time for that. That’s one of his great qualities: he always makes time for his family.”

A can of Accelerator Active Energy was frequently featured in the video, as Kai became an investor in the brand and entered into an NIL deal with it prior to her enrollment at the University of Miami to play college golf.

“Our brands align really well. I love energy drinks, always have, and the opportunity presented itself to me, and it’s been great to work together ever since,” Kai said. “The drink itself is great too. Zero sugar, I love the team, I love the drink and it worked really well.”
Kai’s next vlog will feature her grandfather again, this time from last month’s Ryder Cup, where she got to watch the opening tee shots at Bethpage Black and even share a hug with Bryson DeChambeau.
“It was really cool to go to the Ryder Cup since I love golf and my whole life is golf. I watch it every time it’s on TV, so it was fun to go see it,” Kai said.
However, she thought the fans were “a little too much” in Team Europe.
“I love Rory, I love all the European guys too,” she said.
Kai is only 18 years old and the whole world is in front of her. For now, she’s focused on her studies during her senior year of high school before she officially becomes a Hurricane. But other goals are in mind.

“Obviously one of my biggest goals is definitely to play golf professionally. So after college I’ll try to do that and give it my best,” she said. “And then maintaining my social media. Pretty much everything I do now, just taking it to the next level.”
