Kai Trump talks about his performance on his LPGA Tour debut

President Donald Trump’s granddaughter, Kai Trump, made her LPGA Tour debut Thursday at Annika in Belleair, Florida.

The 18-year-old shot a 13-over 83, finishing last out of 108 players. She made a bogey on the first four holes, then finished the round without a birdie with nine bogeys and two double bogeys.

“I was definitely more nervous than I expected, but I thought I made a lot of good shots,” she said. “I hit a lot of good shots in bad places.”

Despite his last place finish, the teenager still called the experience “pretty cool.”

“It was pretty cool because I know I got far, but somehow playing with the best players in the world and literally being there or even outperforming on some holes was pretty good,” she said. “I felt like my game was in a good place, especially since I was just a high school kid.”

Tiger woodwho is currently dating Kai Trump’s mother, Vanessa, gave the teen advice before the tournament in the days leading up to it, she told reporters Wednesday.

“I mean, he’s the best golfer in the whole world. I would say that. And an even better person,” she said. “He told me to go out there, have fun and go with the flow. Whatever happens, happens.”

Trump has gained popularity on social media, primarily through YouTube, and recently posted a video of her playing with her grandfather at the Trump National Golf Club, in Washington, D.C., and the two attending the Ryder Cup.

“I just don’t consider him to be president. I consider him to be my grandfather. We’re going to go play golf,” Kai said in a recent interview with PK Press Club Digital. “We play golf all the time. It’s nothing new.”

She also insists that her goal is to become a professional golfer.

“I’m going to try to do it and do my best.”
