The Karachi Intermediate Education Board of Directors (BIEK) announced the postponement of annual intermediate examinations for 2025, initially scheduled for April 28.
The exams will now start on May 5.
The decision was made following the directives of the Chairman of the Board of Directors, citing two main reasons for the delay.
First, the continuous process of granting grace marks in mathematics, chemistry and physics for first-year scientific scientific groups, pre-engineering and general scientific groups of the first year has not yet been completed.
Second, several examination centers are still occupied by registration exams that started on April 8 and should continue until May 8.
Officials said the overlap required adjustments to maintain the organization of the exam system and ensure the availability of the center.
Students, educational institutions and parents were advised to continue the preparations according to the new calendar.
Biek said all other updates or changes would be communicated via its official website (www.biek.edu.pk) and its social media pages verified on Facebook and Instagram.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Universities and the Councils of the Sindh government published an official notification granting Grace Marks to students appearing in the annual intermediate examinations of Part I (pre-medical and pre-engineering) of 2024. The decision includes the allocation of 15% to 20% of brands of grace in key scientific subjects.
The notification was issued following the approval of the provincial cabinet at its meeting held on April 15. According to the directive, students will receive 20% of grace brands in chemistry and 15% in physics and mathematics.
The Karachi Board of Intermediate Education was informed of the decision and the implementation instructions were issued accordingly.
The notification, signed by Sharifuddin, section officer for the Boards of Directors of the Department of Universities and Boards of Directors, orders the Chairman of the Intermediary Board of Directors to carry out the necessary provisions to apply the decision of the Cabinet.
It is important to note that currently, Karachi Intermediate Board has no permanent president. The position is temporarily occupied by the president of Karachi Motorculation Board.
