The first case of mpox this year was reported in Karachi, according to hospital sources.
A 31-year-old man had traveled abroad in January for a hair transplant. Upon his return, he was checked at Karachi airport, where symptoms led to suspicion of infection. He was immediately shifted to Sindh Infectious Disease Hospital for further evaluation.
At the hospital, the patient was admitted and underwent a medical examination and tests. Medical Superintendent Dr Waheed Rajput confirmed that the patient tested positive for mpox. However, after showing improvement, he was released within two days.
