Lahore:
The Karakoram motorway was reopened after landslides blocked certain sections of the critical road, after a massive rock fall in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the upper district of Kohistan, left thousands of passengers blocked on both sides of the road.
According to the GBDMA, continuous precipitation since Monday triggered heavy rock shifts at 4 am on Tuesday, completely blocking a 100-meter section from KKH to Lotar, near the Diamer district, Gilgit-Baltistan. The KKH is the only route connecting the Gilgit-Baltistan with the rest of Pakistan during the winter, making its closure a serious disturbance for residents, traders and travelers.
