Kate Winslet opened up about a deeply personal part of her youth while speaking on the Team Deakins podcast.
The Oscar winner revealed that some of her first intimate experiences as a teenager were with girls, explaining that curiosity played an important role.
According to The telegraphWinslet said she could strongly identify with her role in the 1994 film Celestial Creatureswhich explored the intense emotional bond between two teenage girls.
However, the Titanic The actress explained that although she kissed girls and boys when she was a teenager, she didn’t feel fully formed in any direction and was still discovering herself.
“I’m going to share something that I’ve never shared before. Some of my first intimate experiences as a young teenager were actually with girls,” she said.
“I had kissed a few girls, I had kissed a few boys but I wasn’t particularly evolved in either direction.”
Winslet said the film deeply affected her and helped shape her outlook on life, revealing that she was only 17 when she filmed the project and came away transformed by the experience.
“I know I came back a different person,” the actress shared.
Kate also opened up about her complicated relationship with fame, admitting she never actively sought it and prefers a quieter creative life.
