First state visit aims to strengthen trade ties, connectivity and regional cooperation

The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, arrived at the Prime Minister’s House on Wednesday. He was warmly welcomed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif upon his arrival, in the presence of a large group of soldiers as a mark of respect.

The Kazakh president has arrived in Pakistan yesterday for a two-day visit. This is Tokayev’s first official state visit to Pakistan.
In the curtain raiser released by the Foreign Ministry, it was stated that Tokayev’s visit “will provide an important and timely opportunity for both sides to undertake a comprehensive review of bilateral relations, discuss new avenues for expanding cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade, logistics, regional connectivity, people-to-people contacts, and explore collaboration in regional and international forums.”

Yesterday, the President arrived at Nur Khan Air Base, where Shehbaz and President Asif Ali Zardari received him.
Tokayev was accompanied by a high-level delegation of senior ministers and other officials.
A six-member squadron of Pakistan Air Force fighter jets also rendered a grand aerial salute to Tokayev as it entered Pakistani airspace yesterday.
