Keira Knightley banned social media at home to protect her children from “unregulated spaces”.
The 40-year-old actress, who is mother to nine-year-old Edie and five-year-old Delilah with husband James Righton, spoke about her approach to internet use and the need to monitor their online activity.
She said BBC Radio 4: “I find it very terrifying because these are unregulated spaces, and once children are in unregulated spaces, those are the ones I want to protect them from.”
“So in our house we don’t have social media. They’re not allowed on the devices if we can’t see what they’re looking at then they’re not allowed on them,” she added.
“I don’t know if that’s true, you know. How long can I keep this up? I don’t know!”

She explained: “So you try to say ‘okay, on this play date, what are you doing to see, what are you not doing to see?'”
“And it’s great to have a group of parents where you can be open and have these conversations, and that’s what you hope for, but that’s obviously not the case everywhere,” said the Black doves » added the actress.
“I think it’s more the case in our school, in this particular class, but I think, again, it might change from class to class,” she said.
“However, I would love to see regulations adopted so that everything is not imposed on parents,” concluded Keira Knightley.
