Kenan Thompson spoke of his recent health diagnosis after months of silent suffering.
THE Saturday Night Live Star has spoken of his health struggle with which he has been having trouble for over two years in a recent conversation with People.
The actor revealed that he was facing serious heartburn problems, which disrupted his working days Snl.
“I noticed that I would become hoarse much easier when I make the show. Losing my voice faster, but also uncomfortable sleep nights because I tear out acid, just a little hiccup all night,” he said at the point of sale.
Thompson continued by saying: “And that can certainly add more stress to an already stressful environment by making a live show like that. So all these factors, I was like anything, I’m going to get back. But it just started to accumulate.”
“I was able to take something and repair it for the moment, but I got to a point where it was no longer working. It was then that it became serious,” he said. “It was a situation of suffering in silence. I don’t know if I was necessarily embarrassed to speak to a doctor – I just didn’t know if I needed it. ”
After his symptoms became “extreme” at the beginning of 2024, he decided to visit a doctor and received a diagnosis of disease of gastroesophageal reflux, also known as GERD.
“I didn’t know there was a real medical term for that,” he noted.
“GDR (acid reflux) is a disease that occurs when gastric acid is washed in esophagus. It can cause discomfort and can cause precancerous changes in the esophagus mucosa,” according to the Mayo clinic.
Now, after his diagnosis, his doctors have recommended taking a potassium competitive acid blocker to manage painful stomach burns. “I felt a relief fairly immediately,” added the 46 -year -old actor.
