Lovullo said he had heard what the fan said to Marte, and a spokesman for a Diamondbacks told the Republic of Arizona that the coach of Lovullo and the Banc Banis asked that the person be withdrawn from the game.

Lovullo said that he loved all his players and that he was going to protect them.
“I have known Ketel for nine years, and he has had incredibly big moments and difficulties too and really difficult moments of his life and I know them. In the end, we are human beings, and we have emotions and I saw him hurt, and I wanted to protect him.”
