Rawalpindi:
Two main road infrastructure projects without signaling in Rawalpindi, worth more than 6.5 billion rupees, have missed their completion times, causing significant drawbacks to residents. These include Nawaz Sharif Flyover in Khawaja Corporation Chowk on Adiala Road and lower passages on Mall Road in Ktm Chowk, Mall Plaza, and the passage from pedestrian crossing to the medicine market.
While the overview of Khawaja Corporation Chowk has been completed, carpet and embellishment work remains pending.
The chief minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, had set a deadline of May 31 for his completion, but the project remains unfinished. This project alone costs 2.3 billion rupees.
Likewise, the project to pass 4.38 billion rupees and the pedestrian crossing project on Mall Road, initially planned for completion in 45 days, remains incomplete even after 100 days. Consequently, access to key places, including hospitals, mega-medicine, the PIA market, state life and canton offices has been disrupted.
Zahid Bakhtawari, president of Anjuman Shehriyan Rawalpindi, criticized the delay, let’s say that the situation has become unbearable for patients and businesses. The promises made to complete the work in 45 days were not held.
The MNA PML-N of Cant, Malik Abrar Ahmed, said that efforts are underway to avoid new delays. He stressed that during high -level meetings, the authorities were invited to accelerate the work. If the two projects are completed in the next 15 days, a joint inauguration could take place, pending the calendar of the chief minister. While managers of the C & W department had previously confirmed the deadline of May 31, they are now not willing to comment on.
