- The Mind 2 is more than just a mini PC, it’s a nomadic development platform
- Additional features and functionality are a key attraction
- Mind 2 AI Maker Kit Makes It a Developers Dream
Mini PCs were a booming market in 2024, and 2025 shows no signs of slowing down in that regard – and there’s one particular model that caught my eye.
Khadas’ Mind 2 mini PC, which the company introduced at CES 2025, is an impressive piece of hardware for professionals and casual users.
This modular device looks more like a bulky SSD than a mini PC, but is powered by the Intel Arrow Lake platform, giving it very good value for money.
Power increase
Boasting an Intel Core Ultra 7 225H processor and built on the new Arrow Lake-H architecture, the Mind 2 marks a significant improvement over Khadas’ previous model.
The Mind 2 includes general performance improvements, but also great power efficiency, improved integrated graphics and, given the industry’s increased focus on technology, improved AI processing capabilities.
“Compared to its predecessor, Mind 2s features remarkable improvements in single-core and multi-core performance, delivering a more efficient computing experience,” Khadas said in its launch announcement.
Overall, the Mind 2 is a powerful mini PC whose capabilities are flexible enough to cover a range of functions – from professional design and video editing to complex AI tasks.
What sets the device apart from its industry counterparts, however, is the suite of complementary tools and features that come with it. Khadas is keen to point out that Mind devices have an entire ecosystem of capabilities surrounding them.
An AI developer’s dream
Aimed primarily at AI developers, the mini PC comes with the Mind 2 AI Maker kit. Powered by the Intel Lunar Lake platform and a 258V Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, the Maker Kit delivers up to 115 TOPS of computing power.
This has the potential to significantly improve the efficiency and optimization of the AI model. The Mind Maker Kit essentially acts as an agile deployment server and edge computing platform, allowing developers to deploy models locally or at the edge.
This means lower latency and better efficiency for real-time applications, as well as better data privacy. Combine that with the fact that it weighs just 435 grams, making it a perfect device for developers on the go or in remote working environments.
The latest addition to the Mind ecosystem is equally enticing and could be a game-changer in terms of user productivity.
Mind xPlay focuses specifically on “mobile working and multi-scenario applications,” according to Khadas. This feature allows users to integrate accessories such as the Mind Dock or Mind Graphics GPU plug-in.
Khadas Mind 2: Pricing and other features
The Khadas Mind 2 comes with Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 ports, marking an improvement over the previous model.
Storage capacities can also be upgraded via SSD and the device has a 5.55Wh built-in battery.
However, it doesn’t come cheap, with the price set at $799 and subject to change or adjustment based on user preferences.
Options include a base device with an Intel Ultra 5 125H processor, although this version is limited to 16 GB of memory and 512 GB of storage.
Opting for the Ultra 7 155H model offers better flexibility and overall performance, but the price increases significantly. Users can select 32GB or 64GB of memory with this line and up to 2TB of storage capacity. These setups will cost you over $1,000.
