The Pakistani Minister of Defense, Khawaja Asif, strongly criticized the Pakistani party Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) for calling for demonstrations at the time of the matches of the crucial champions trophy, accusing them of having tried Isolate Pakistan on the cricket field.
In a declaration published on the social media platform X, Asif noted that PTI had asked for authorization for a rally in Lahore on February 8, the same day as the first match in the series between Pakistan and New Zealand, part of the champions trophy preparations.
He also noted that PTI also called for a long step on February 19, the day of the first match of the Pakistan Champions Trophy.
Asif has described these actions as an attempt to sabotic Pakistan’s participation in the Champions Trophy, calling it an “anti-national” effort to dishonor the country on the international scene.
“It is an effort to strip Pakistan from its champions trophy matches,” he said, adding that the reason was to embarrass the country in the sports arena.
He also criticized PTI chief Imran Khan for having apparently put his political ambitions before national interests, adding that his actions were so extreme that even his supporters may not have planned them.
