King Charles and Queen Camilla were among the first royals to reveal their 2025 Christmas card and this year it’s rich in romance and symbolism.
Among the first recipients of this royal season’s missive was India Hicks, a longtime family friend, former model and goddaughter of King Charles who also served as a bridesmaid at his 1981 wedding to Princess Diana.
The card comes amid a poignant chapter for India, which recently revealed that it was facing a rapidly progressing skin cancer diagnosis but had since been given the all-clear following surgery.
The couple chose a sentimental portrait marking their 20th wedding anniversary, taken in the gardens of Villa Wolkonsky, the residence of the British ambassador to Rome, during a state visit in April.
The classic style of King Charles and Camilla’s card draws on warm tradition rather than outright holiday kitsch, with the King in a blue pinstripe suit and the radiant Queen in a cream coat dress.
The annual Christmas card tradition has become a fascinating insight into how modern royals balance duty and personality.
Over the years, the Prince and Princess of Wales have mixed elegant studio portraits with casual family photos, while other European monarchies such as the Monaco and Belgian royal houses opt for their own glamorous and edgy festive images.
