King Charles and Queen Camilla sip special gin during their visit to Dedham

King Charles and Queen Camilla brought plenty of warmth to the village of Essex on February 5 during a busy day of meetings, a little drizzle was no match for their community spirit.

The tour began at the much-loved Sun Inn, often considered one of Britain’s best pubs, where Their Majesties spent time with local business owners and guests from across the region.

Queen Camilla and the monarch arrived just before midday and were greeted by the pub team, including landlord Piers Baker, his wife Victoria and senior staff from the Baker Collective.

They even sampled the inn’s signature gin, a local blend made with the famous Mersea oysters in collaboration with Fishes in Aldeburgh.

Inside, conversations flowed as easily as hospitality, with discussions ranging from local business to environmental responsibility.

Stepping outside, the royal stroll down the High Street took place to the sounds of music, dancing and the joy of the crowds.

Schoolchildren and residents lined the route, creating a festival atmosphere that made the gray skies seem like a minor detail.

The day ended at the Essex Rose Teahouse, where staff hosted a relaxed tea gathering.
