Palace aides are reportedly springing into action as they are forced to make last-minute changes before releasing an important message from King Charles.
The monarch, who is expected to address the public in a Christmas broadcast as is the annual tradition, received devastating news regarding the attacks on Australia’s Bondi Beach, for which he remained “dismayed and saddened”.
The Christmas speech given by the monarch is usually written and pre-recorded before the big day. However, as the attacks in Australia surfaced, royal experts suggested that not mentioning the incident, in the country where he is also head of state, would reflect poorly.
“To remain relevant, the King’s festive decoration must be responsive to external events, however horrific, that are unfolding in the run-up to the festive period,” remarked Sky News Australia correspondent Tessa Dunlop.
She explained that because Charles is “well placed to provide leadership in Australia’s hour of darkness”, a Christmas broadcast from a king would “give balm” to the victims and their families.
The royal author noted that the king has established himself as a “defender of all beliefs,” and so he must try to maintain that.
However, the King was quick to issue a statement expressing his thoughts whenever a tragedy occurred in one of his Commonwealth states. It wasn’t any different this time either.
