Denmark’s king dropped a key event as calls grew for the heir to the throne to take the reins.

However, the move was met with disappointment by some, including a local sports editor who suggested that if the king could not attend, the task should be given to sports-loving Crown Prince Christian.
BTThe sports editor of Lasse Vøge expressed his disappointment with the decision. “For entertainment and sport, it is sad and disappointing that the tradition will not be maintained,” he wrote.
He continues: “Let’s hope the king is back next year. Or maybe he will entrust the task to Crown Prince Christian, who is also a sports enthusiast.”
